The Course shall be open to applicants who are:

  1. employed in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of their country or in another governmental entity active in external relations and have served in this capacity for at least one year and
  2. in possession of a recognized first cycle degree recognized by Senate for the purpose.

Applicants may be required to attend an interview to ascertain their proficiency in the English Language.

The Master of Diplomacy will equip you with the skills and knowledge to refine your understanding of diplomatic history, measures and consistencies in global and contemporary affairs. Through the taught units offered, you will learn about international relations, history, economics, law and diplomacy, in addition to an elective unit of your choice to accompany your compulsory units. Throughout this year-long full-time course, you will also have the opportunity to demonstrate your acquired knowledge by carrying out a long essay during the second semester.

Requirement for the award of the degree: 60 ECTS credits

This programme of study is governed by the General Regulations for University Postgraduate Awards, 2021 and by the Bye-Laws for the award of the Master of Diplomacy - M. Dip - under the auspices of the Mediterranean Academy of Diplomatic Studies.

By the end of the programme, you will:

  • Have enhanced your writing, analytical, diplomatic, negotiating and debating skills.
  • Analyse a number of key issues affecting the Mediterranean region from a historical perspective.
  • Perform basic economic tasks in an international economic environment.
  • Comprehend and interpret international legal texts.
  • Identify and evaluate different sources and resources.
  • Write academic papers concisely and precisely.

As a successful holder of this degree, you will have the opportunity to enter a career locally and globally in the international relations field, both in the public and private sectors. As a recognised and qualified diplomat, you will have a keen and insightful approach towards problem solving, with a better capacity to recognise and understand the differences between cultures, organisations, companies and individuals.

If you are interested in furthering your studies, you may do so by enrolling in an alternative masters' programme offered by the Department of Mediterranean academy of Diplomatic Studies, or pursue a doctorate in a foreign institution abroad.
